When it’s Time to Say Goodbye

Your pet is part of your family and just like your children you take care of them when they are healthy as well as when they get sick. When your pet becomes ill, due to age or disease, you have a difficult decision to make. When is the right time to say goodbye?

Years ago, you would go to an animal hospital where humane euthanasia was performed by veterinary staff. Families struggled with taking their pets to a place their pet feared for their final moments. Most pets associate the vet with being sick or getting their annual vaccines. A trip to the vet is terrifying for many pets and knowing that your pet was not going to return home increased the pet parents’ guilt too.

Today, house call euthanasia, performed by a licensed veterinarian, is available in many states across the country. With house call euthanasia, you spend your final moments with your pet where he or she feels most comfortable, in their comfy bed, outside in the grass or holding them in your lap.

Dr. Deb Ellinger has been a practicing veterinarian for over 30 years and recently she moved back to South Eastern PA from upstate NY to be near her family. Deb wanted to continue working with pets but was searching for a new mission. As a veterinarian, she vowed to take care of pets and their families through all stages of their life, including death. She saw the need to provide a peaceful euthanasia in a caring, comfortable and familiar environment for pets and their families. She feels that there is no better place than the pet’s home and therefore founded Quality of Life In-Home Pet Euthanasia Service, LLC.

Quality of Life In-Home Pet Euthanasia Service provides house call euthanasia and cremation services. Deb also provides over-the-phone palliative consultations for small animals. As a veterinarian, she explains how the process works, answers questions and helps families know when it is time to say goodbye.

It is incredibly sad to watch your pet’s health deteriorate and stressful for the pet parent who doesn’t want to see their pet suffer but doesn’t know if it is the right time. Dr. Deb assists families in making that decision so the pets have a peaceful passing before they begin to suffer.

If your family is struggling with knowing when to say goodbye, visit Dr. Deb’s website at www.qolhomepeteuth.com for more information about in-home euthanasia and how to know when it is the right time.
